Frequently Asked Questions about Silhouette InstaLift®
Ask a question-
How does Silhouette InstaLift® work?
Using a double-action effect, the procedure effectively adds skin smoothing and toning as well as definition to the face. The insertion of the sutures immediately repositions the tissue and stimulates the regeneration of collagen that will continue for many months. Gentle pressure is applied to the treated area to reshape the contours of your face.
-
How long does silhouette lift last?
The results typically last for between 18 months and two years, depending on a number of factors. To get the best results from your threads, you can make lifestyle changes such as wearing sunscreen, avoiding smoking and excessive drinking and following a balanced, healthy diet.
-
Who is a good candidate for Silhouette InstaLift®?
The procedure, also called Silhouette Soft, is recommended for men and women who want to correct sagging skin and loss of volume but aren’t ready for surgery.
-
What are the threads made from?
Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the primary material used in the threads. It has a well-established safety record with many biomedical and pharmaceutical applications because it offers excellent biocompatibility and is biodegradable.
-
What makes the Silhouette InstaLift® threads unique?
There are small cones on the sutures that provides traction and fixation points which then stimulates the production and build-up of collagen.
-
Is the procedure safe?
The procedure has been developed after six years of research. With more than 150,000 treatments carried out around the world, Silhouette InstaLift® has been proved to be a safe, effective treatment to reverse some of the signs of aging.

I absolutely love Dr. Bognet and Dr. Steil, regardless of which physician I am scheduled with - they are always sweet, kind, informative and always so happy to see you. They are both great physicians and take very great care of their patients. I have referred 4 of my family to CSC Steil Dermatology. They haven't taken care of them all and each person has also loved her.
A special thank you to Medical Assistant/Physician Assistant G, she is the sweetest, most patient team member they have. She helped me get some medication approved that my insurance wouldn't pay for. She was so thoughtful and gracious with her time. Thank you everyone!

With full body eczema and a family history of melanoma, I normally check in with Dr. Steil or Dr. Bognet every so often. They are both extremely knowledgeable, thorough and helpful.
A few years ago, I moved to a town pretty far from their office in Hinsdale and tried going to a few different dermatologists closer to my new place. They all stunk in comparison, including one particularly bad instance where a misdiagnosis of a viral skin infection landed me in the hospital for a whole week! After that, I made an appointment with Dr. Bognet... As soon as I started describing my symptoms to her, she knew exactly what the diagnosis should have been and how it should have been treated. I will never make the same mistake again- no matter how far I have to drive!
I personally 100% recommend them to anyone with any skin conditions, as it seems they both stay on top of the current research and literature.

Extremely disappointed with my appointment with Dr. Steil today. First I had to wait 35 minutes past my appointment time before someone came down to get...

Dr Bognet and the rest of the staff were very nice, but she greatly misdiagnosed my obvious shingles outbreak as “non-descript” dermatitis. She prescribed a steroid.
Had she listened to my complain - pain, bump, itchiness, and buzzing/ vibrating on only one side of my face, I could have been put on medication immediately and avoided the drying affects of a steroid which only made the shingles worse (and more contagious).
Dangerously uninformed.
